LIFE, DEATH AND GRIEVE

AFRO CARIB LIFESTYLE AND ACHIEVERS
@THE AFRO FASHION SHOW IRELAND
LIFE, DEATH AND GRIEVE
Daddy, Chief Afolabi Olatunji

 Hello Readers,

Wow! What a life we live, people, fashion, death and what we do. I love life yet I keep finding myself curious about why? When things happen, like Lost is unexplainable; the reality of death can’t be challenge and I ask myself how do you grieve? It became so real to me Death!

My lost bring me to the question Life? My concerns about life come from a place of hurting and pain, confusion or despair. So I needed to establish some clarity over the value of life. If not, I/we may be curious about where we come from, or what the nature of life is, the lost of my father and the relationship which I was in became questionable. Am so in love that I cant let go even when am not totally sure also “My Father” I don’t know what I should do right by him, am not perfect so was he but I know he did love me and I love him too. The pain of lost comes in different way and its base on your life experience. I say again death! Is real, hearing of his death a day to my big show create some strength to make him proud, for hours I couldn’t stop crying, screaming and realizing that I lost a man in my life which I believe loves me more. If you were to ask me/ anyone and give us a choice between living in their present circumstances or not living at all, the bulk of us would opt to continue living, I realize at that moment how much I want to live for my children, I held my kids close and made them realize my fear death, telling them that am going to die also because then it became so real, life and death.

This says everything. Life is inherently valuable and dear to us, regardless of the circumstances but the question now is how do I grieve? Death is the cessation that connects between our mind and our body. Most people believe that death takes place when the heart stops beating; which is physical but this does not mean that the person has died, because his subtle mind may still remain in his body. Death occurs when the subtle consciousness finally leaves the body to go to the next life. Our body is like a guesthouse and our mind like the guest; when we die our mind has to leave this body and enter the body of our next rebirth, like a guest leaving one guesthouse and travelling to another. We all know that one day we shall die, generally we are so reluctant to think of our death that this knowledge does not touch our hearts, and we live our life as if we were going to be in this world forever. You only faced the reality of death only when a very close love one do actually die, like Dad, Mother, Children or a lover, husband or someone close that you see and relate with on a daily bases. Death to me now became so real and it scares me and I realize I have to make some changes, say something’s before it’s late and do things when I can. I love you daddy!!!!......

Question: "What does it mean to grieve / quench the Holy Spirit?" Answer: When the word “quench” is used in Scripture, it is speaking of suppressing fire. When believers put on the shield of faith, as part of their armour of God (Ephesians 6:16), they are extinguishing the power of the fiery darts from Satan. Christ described hell as a place where the fire would not be “quenched” (Mark 9:44, 46, 48). Likewise, the Holy Spirit is a fire dwelling in each believer. He wants to express Himself in our actions and attitudes. When believers do not allow the Spirit to be seen in our actions, when we do what we know is wrong, we suppress or quench the Spirit (1 Thessalonians 5:19). We do not allow the Spirit to reveal Himself the way that He wants to.

To understand what it means to grieve the Spirit, we must first understand that this indicates the Spirit possesses personality. Only a person can be grieved; therefore, the Spirit must be a divine person in order to have this emotion. Once we understand this, we can better understand how He is grieved, mainly because we too are grieved. Ephesians 4:30 tells us that we should not grieve the Spirit.

We grieve the Spirit by living like the pagans (4:17-19), by lying (4:25), by being angry (4:26-27), by stealing (4:28), by cursing (4:29), by being bitter (4:31), by being unforgiving (4:32), and by being sexually immoral (5:3-5). To grieve the Spirit is to act out in a sinful manner, whether it is in thought only or in both thought and deed. Both quenching and grieving the Spirit are similar in their effects. Both hinder a godly lifestyle. Both happen when a believer sins against God and follows his or her own worldly desires.

The only correct road to follow is the road that leads the believer closer to God and purity, and farther away from the world and sin. Just as we do not like to be grieved, and just as we do not seek to quench what is good—so we should not grieve or quench the Holy Spirit by refusing to follow His leading.

Grief is neither a disorder nor a healing process: it is a sign of health itself, a whole and natural gesture of love. Nor must we see grief as a step towards something better.

No matter how much it hurts–and it may be the greatest pain in life–grief can be an end in itself, a pure expression of love–Gerald May, M.D.

“For me my grieving process is loving, remembering the good times and bad, making decision which is necessary, showing more kindness, being strong by continue to live life itself and most of all searching for more about my creator, my lord, My God Jehovah, myself and others around me that makes life meaningful”

THIS ARE PEOPLE MAKING IT POSSIBLE FOR AFRO IN DIASPORA CENTER CARRYING OUT THEIR AIMS, VISION, MISSION & OBJECTIVES, THEY SUPPORT OUR PASSION AND WE SAY A BIG THANK YOU. WE ARE PROMOTING "ADIRE" @ THE AFRO FASHION SHOW IRELAND, MELROSE IS WEARING AN "Adire" FROM ONE OF SUSUANA.O.M COLLECTIONS.

Adire is the name given to indigo dyed cloth produced by Yoruba women of south western Nigeria using a variety of resist dye techniques. Adire translates as tie and dye, and the earliest cloths were probably simple tied designs on locally-woven hand-spun cotton cloth much like those still produced in Mali. In the early decades of the twentieth century however, the new access to large quantities of imported shirting material made possible by the spread of European textile merchants in certain Yoruba towns, notably Abeokuta, enabled women dyers to become both artists and entrepreneurs in a booming new medium. New techniques of resist dyeing were developed, most notably the practice of hand-painting designs on the cloth with a cassava starch paste prior to dyeing. This was known as adire eleko. Alongside these a new style was soon developed that speeded up decoration by using metal stencils cut from the sheets of tin that lined tea-chests. Another method was to use sewn raffia, sometimes in combination with tied sections, while other cloths were simply folded repeatedly and tied or stitched in place. The basic shape of the cloth is that of two pieces of shirting material stitched together to create a women's wrapper cloth. Most of the designs were named, and popular designs included the jubilee pattern, (first produced for the jubilee of George V and Queen Mary in 1935), Olokun or "goddess of the sea", and Ibadadun "Ibadan is sweet."

BRING/BACK/OUR/GIRLS "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

BRING BACK OUR GIRLS “CHIBOK”
AN OVER ALL VIEW OF INFORMATION ABOUT THE KIDNAPPING
BOKO HARAM AND THE CHIBOK AFFAIR; THE EMERGING AND UNCOMFORTABLE FACTS
Rally at the Nigeria Embassy on the 7th May Representation of The Afro in Diaspora Center by the CEO Susuana.O.M with the support of various groups, women and communities leaders here in Ireland. The RALLY is At 10am -1pm. Wear red to show we are against violence. 56 Lesson Park. Dublin 2.

This is our concerned as Mothers, Fathers and Youth of Ireland have decided to have this peaceful demonstration, that we need to focus worldwide attention on the plight of the over-200 young girls who were abducted from their school on April 14, 2014 in Borno State, Nigeria, by so called terrorists. They are yet to be rescued and the authorities are not saying anything. As a human being, parent, It is unacceptable that this should happen and mothers, politicians and people in general are not keeping quiet.

SUSUANA O.M CEO OF AFRO IN DIASPORA CENTER SAYS BRING/BACK/OUR/GIRLS "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

#BringBackOurGirls#Protest At Nigerian Embassy In Dublin Ireland I was there, making history and being part of a change.

The kidnap took place in Borno State one of the 36 state in Nigeria.

Myself Susuana with Celebrities, Nigerian Ambassador For Peace in Diaspora (Ireland) Amb.Vickie Robert Okere, The lovely Model Patience Olufemi which I adore, Our own Man Angel Michael and the beautiful Delta Connection and supporters rallied at the Nigerian Embassy in Dublin Ireland today 7/5/14. The several hundred peaceful demonstrators called for accountability, Enough is Enough, the return and reintegration of more then 200 kidnapped Chibock school girls.
The Obama Administration is dispatching officials to aid recovery efforts in Nigeria for over 250 kidnapped girls captured by the Boko Haram militant group. The Secretary of State spoke with Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday to discuss the plan

What Boko Haraam leader, Shekau said in his video to all Nigerians! "I am going to marry out any woman who is 12 years old, and if she is younger, I will marry her out at the age of nine, just like how my mother, Aisha, the daughter of Abubakar, was married out to Prophet Mohammad at the age of nine."You are all in danger, I mean all of you.

"I am the one who captured all those girls and will sell all of them. I have a market where I sell human beings because it is Allah that says I should sell human beings. Yes, I will sell women, because I sell women.

"I captured and abducted girls in a Western school, and it became a worrying issue for all of you. You have forgotten that I have said that it is not only girls' education I am against. I am against everyone who attends a Western school. Girls should go and marry.

"Slavery is allowed in my religion, and I shall capture people and make them slaves, don't think we are done yet because we are not”. We are on our way to Abuja and we shall also visit the South, not to look for Jonathan but to destroy the nation's refineries.

"Talking about human rights and democracy nonsense” People that are doing same-sex marriage and saying they are leaders. "I will imprison Jonathan's daughter” Anyone who turns to Islam will be saved. For me, anyone that embraces Islam is my own. Stupid Jonathan, you will be surprised. Until the land is soaked with blood

"You said you want to capture me. Surely, you will one day. But I will also haunt for Jonathan, and if I catch him, I will kill him.

"Do not think I am indispensable, I am not. Anybody can kill me. Even the smallest of creature can kill me. But when you kill me, somebody more deadly will rise, and you will cry that you will rather have me than him, just as you now say that Yusuf Mohamed is more lenient that me. "I am a leader, I don't have any president; I am my president.

"Late Aminu Kano, Late Tafawa Balewa are not Muslims, they are all pagans. I am going to kill all the Imams and other Islamic clerics in Nigeria because they are not Muslims since they follow democracy and constitution. Senator Ali Modu Sheriff is a pagan, Senator Ali Ndume is also a pagan and they are all inclusive. I am against democracy and you should better get prepared.

"It is Allah that instructed us, until we soak the ground of Nigeria with Christian blood, and so-called Muslims contradicting Islam. [We will kill and wonder] what to do with smelling of their corpses, smelling of Obama, Bush and Jonathan. Then we will open prison and imprison the rest. Infidels have no value."This is a war against Christians and democracy and their constitution. Allah says we should finish them when we get them.

"In fact, you are supposed to wash and re-wash a plate Christian eats food from before you eat as Muslims. Are Christians the people we should play with? They killed us in Shendam, Zangon Katab and all the places. It is either you are with us or you are with them, and when we see you, we will harvest your neck with knife

Now that the operational leadership and visible face of Boko Haram, in the person of the filth called Mr. Abubakar Shekau (aka Darul Tawheed), has finally admitted that they were responsible for the abduction of hundreds of our school girls and that they intend to ''sell them in the market like slaves'', This will enable us to understand the nature of whom and what we are dealing with and allow us to consider what the appropriate response ought to be if we really want to solve the problem.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has told us that 90 per cent of the girls that were abducted from their school at Chibok were Christians. The President himself alluded to this yesterday during his media chat when he said that ''the majority'' of girls that were abducted were Christians. The following have also been brought to my attention:

1. That the majority of the girls that either ''escaped'' or were released by their abductors were Muslims.

2. That the Governor of Borno state refused to accept the counsel and abide by the directives of WAEC that the exams should not take place in Chibok due to the precarious security situation and instead he insisted that the exams should take place there and that he would guarantee the security of the children.

3. That the girls that have been kidnapped are being raped up to 15 times a day by their captors and that those amongst them that have refused to convert to Islam are having their throats cut (read the testimony of one of the girls that ''escaped'' on page 8 of the Vanguard Newspaper, 5th April, 2014).

4. That there was not a single adult in the school grounds watching over the 278 girls that entire night apart from one security man and that there was no electricity, no generator, no principal, no matron, no house master and no house mistress in the grounds with them.

5. That the children were all alone in their dormitories that night in the blistering heat and deepest darkness before the Haramites arrived to carry them away into captivity.

6. That two of the ladies that met with the First Lady on 4th April and that held themselves out as representatives of the families of the abducted children did not in fact have any link with the children or their families at all and hence they were arrested for impersonation.

7. That the soldiers that were guarding the school in Chibok were redeployed a few hours before Boko Haram launched their attack and abducted the children.

8. That this was a predominantly Christian school and that Chibok is predominantly a Christian town and community.

In my view these facts are relevant and instructive. When one considers them, the picture of what really happened at Chibok on that tragic night, what the real intentions of the abductors and their secret sponsors were and what is really going on now is getting clearer by the day.

Ordinarily whether the children are Christians, Muslims, pagans or atheists really should not matter because, regardless of their faith, we want them all back and we must fight for them all to be returned to their homes and loved ones.

However the fact that 90 per cent of them are Christian adds a sinister and frightening dimension to the whole horrific episode and it is glaring evidence of the fact that Christian girls are now being targeted by the Islamists and that those girls are being ''sold in the market'', being forced to convert to Islam and being turned into sex slaves.

Let me put it on record that I am of the view that it was a monumental error for the police to arrest the two ladies that were part of the delegation that went to see the First Lady on April 4th despite the reasons adduced for doing so. That single action was an unnecessary distraction and an abuse of power. Worst still it left the Federal Government and the Presidency itself open to a lot of criticism and accusations of insensitivity and high-handedness.

This is especially so given the fact the fact that the two ladies, from what I have been told, are both very prominent members of one or two of the groups that have been agitating for the release of the girls. Those that ordered their arrest are making things far worse for the Government and it is increasingly clear to me that as a consequence of this single action they are fast losing the little goodwill that they may have left with the Nigerian people. If the war is to be won such errors must be avoided and the government must work hard to win back the confidence of our people.

I am one of those that believe that the Federal Government has failed woefully in their primary duty to protect the Nigerian people and I have enunciated that position more than anyone else in this nation in numerous essays and contributions over the last three years. However I honestly believe that today the problem has become so serious and pronounced and that the conflict has reached such a critical stage that criticising and lambasting the government alone will not help. The truth is that such an approach has certainly has not achieved much in the last three years because nothing has changed.

I believe that it is time for us to change tactics in order to achieve better results even though we must not relent in demanding that our President and his security and intelligence agencies do their job properly and provide the necessary security for our people. We also need to understand and appreciate the fact that this matter goes way beyond politics. It goes way beyond whether you are for or against Jonathan.

It goes way beyond whether you are in the APC, PDP, APGA, Labour or UPN. It goes way beyond whether you are a progressive or a conservative. It goes way beyond whether you are a Christian or a Muslim or whether you are from the north or the south.

The bitter truth is that regardless of wherever you come from, whatever your faith is and whichever side of the political divide you stand, we all have a duty to get to the bottom of this matter, join forces, close ranks, find out what is really going on and bring this nightmare to an end. We must join hands with all men and women of goodwill and, together, we must fight this insidious evil that seeks to envelop our land and overwhelm our people.

To be sure there is only one thing worse than failing to protect your people and that is when you organise and mobilise some misguided and mentally unstable miscreants to use religion as a political tool and get them to blow up, kill, abduct, rape and maim innocent men, women and children in an attempt to destabilise the country, spark off a religious war, change the status quota, pull down the government, induce a military coup, dismember our country and cow the Nigerian people into submission.

That is what those that are the secret supporters and sponsors of Boko Haram are doing and attempting to achieve. They are also interested in furthering the sinister and barbaric agenda of the Taliban, the Al Nosra Front, Al Shabab, Islamic Jihad, Hamas and Al Qaeda whose wish is to destroy the secular state and to establish an Islamic fundamentalist state. They wish to establish a radical new caliphate in the west African sub-region where Christianity and moderate Islam is banned, where women are treated like sub-human beings and chattel and which is governed by the strictest form of Islamic Sharia law.

To this end it is interesting to note that the evil is spreading. A glaring testimony to that sad fact is the fact that an Army barracks was attacked by Boko Haram in the Camerouns on 5th April and after killing two army officers they freed all their fellow terrorists and Islamists that had been detained there. What is going on is dangerous, bloody, vicious, heartless, brutal, deep, dark and sinister and it is a conspiracy of monumental proportions. It is a conspiracy which we have all fallen victim to. It is a conspiracy that is fuelled by secrecy and strengthened by the reluctance of those that know better and that know the truth to speak out and expose it.

It is a conspiracy that also receives massive funding and covert support from various governments and Royal families in the Middle East whose support for the salfists is well known and whose wahabbi doctrines and philosophy is exceptionally dangerous. These are the type of people that we are dealing with and these are the times that we are living in.

It is left for the President and his team to rise up to the occasion, tell the Nigerian people the bitter truth about all that is going on behind the scenes, remove the kid gloves, get real and fight the Haramists and their sponsors with all that he has got.

If he refuses to do it or if he is cowered into not doing so by the moderate and dovish voices that appear to be around him, he can be rest assured that sooner than later this country will break up and he will go down in history as the last President of a united Nigeria. Worse still if he is not careful there may well be a military coup which will not be welcome by any right-thinking person and which everyone dreads. We must assist him as best as we can to ensure that this does not happen.

I have little doubt that the President knows who those that are behind Boko Haram are: it is now time for him to exercise his full powers, expose them and deal with them in a brutal and savage manner.

It is time for him to show strength and to lead us into this war against terror boldly. It is time for him to be a Commander-in Chief that we can all be proud of. It is time for him to use his full power and to detain and interrogate all those that he suspects may be linked to the terrorists.

It is time for him to rise up to the occasion and to crush the evil and the forces of darkness that have challenged our way of life, everything that is dear to us and indeed our very existence.  It is time for him to use every method known to man to vigorously fight the insurgency, including better intelligence gathering and the usage of ''black ops'', ''wet boys'', covert operations and maximum co-operation with various foreign and international intelligence and security agencies.

It is time for him to ruthlessly bomb the notorious and Boko Haram-infested Sambisi forest with nepam and burns it, together with everything and everyone that is in it, to the ground. It is time for him to exercise the right of ''hot pursuit'' and to pursue the Haramites into the Cameroun’s, Chad, the Niger Republic or anywhere else if and when it is necessary for him to ever do so.

It is time for him to prove to the world that the Nigerian people are not insensitive cowards and that we know how to fight and to protect our own. It is time for him to rise up and to exercise the full powers and authority of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. It is time for him to do whatever it takes to bring our girls back home and to let us hold our heads up high once again.

Rally at the Nigeria Embassy on the 7th May Initiated by The Afro in Diaspora Center Lead by the CEO Susuana.O.M and the Chairperson Vera Nwabuwe with the support of various groups, women and communities leaders here in Ireland. Tomorrow is the RALLY. At 10am -1pm.

Carol Azams I do have a strange feeling about this whole thng. There is a possibility that Bokohara members might not be indigenous Nigerians. For all we know they could be coming from neighboring countries to vomit their havoc on the people of Nigeria.

Born 25th February 1954 to a politically inclined Ijaw father and an Edo mother, in what is now known as Abia State, Dr. Bolere Elizabeth Ketebu has devoted her life to the championing of women’s rights.
Currently a member of the Governing Council, University of Lagos since 2009, she is a born motivator with a desire for helping others. “I was always engaged in one form of activism or another, from class monitor to head-girl to class representative to student unions.
This mother of five, qualified medical doctor and community physician, who rose through the ranks from local government officer of the NCWS (Nigeria National Council of Women’s Societies) to become the National president, is an extensive traveler within and outside the nation and has strive for the good of Nigeria and the world at large in various voluntary, governmental, academic and political roles.
After graduating from the University of Lagos, she embarked upon a postgraduate degree in Medicine, became a fellow of the West African
College of Physicians and studied Public Health and Community medicine at the Nigeria Postgraduate Medical College. She practiced as a city health officer for some years, became a director in the federal service in 1989, and was selected at the College of Medicine to train doctors.
From there she went to the House of Representatives (representing Yenagoa Constituency, Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1992 – 1993). While she still remained active in politics, she also became a public health consultant and continued practicing medicine and founded and co-run a home for motherless babies.
A major contribution Dr. Bolere has made to Nigeria is conceiving the micro credit scheme, for women’s groups and associations. She toured Nigeria for 62 days and administered the loan, but was later wrongly accused of defrauding the country and found herself remanded in police custody.
She spent a night in Suleja prison, where she experienced first-hand the plight of imprisoned women, and was inspired to equip the prison with modern, female friendly facilities. “If she had not initiated the micro-credit scheme and was later framed and imprisoned for one night she wouldn't have had such experience,” she explains, “the lesson is that leadership comes with it scars; one must be ready to bear the scars that come with the crown.”
